PEER MENTORS

Peer Mentors can reach refugee youth in ways that others can’t. RYE makes sure you have the organizational support to maximize your impact on refugee youth.

Peer Mentors, many from refugee communities themselves, lead small teams of RSP Scholars to perform Service Learning in the community, conduct reflection discussions, facilitate college access and success workshops and activities, share experiences and inspire youth.

The Peer Mentor oversees small teams of refugee youth selected to be Refugee Scholars. They assist in their successful completion of academic assignments, improvement of cultural, social and language skills, organizing and facilitating Service Learning experiences, and working with Refugee Scholars to apply to and then succeed in higher education. The Peer Mentor works closely with the RYE team at African Services Coalition and regularly participates in RYE team meetings.
